Recreating My Childhood Cottage
Captured within this quaint wooden frame is a colourful ode to my childhood retreat, though truth be told, my family’s cottage wasn't quite as polished – but I loved it all the same. Nostalgia has a way of embellishing, turning cold swims into daring adventures and shaky first bike rides into triumphs. As I recreated it, adding bursts of color and tidying up the edges, I couldn't help but smile at how nostalgia had transformed it. Each stroke of paint and carefully placed detail was a tribute to the way we remember things – a bit brighter, a bit more polished, but no less filled with the warmth of those same cherished moments. Amidst recycled odds and ends, and backyard sticks, this diorama stands as a playful nod to our past antics. From freezing swims to failed fishing attempts, every detail brings back memories of bonfires, journaling, and tons of laughter shared with those we love most.
